If you don't have guys like that you could be stuck in a scenario where you hold onto someone like McFadden because he's too good to drop, but you could have improved your team by picking up that FA. games similar to jackbox reddit is a subreddit that has been created for people. If the guy who you pick up does well, great, you have a stronger team, if not, you can pick up the guy who will inevitably come out of nowhere. This would improve your TE position, ensure you don't have "too much" depth, and allow you to pick up a boom or bust type of player who could be a good sleeper or could do nothing and be able to be dropped for the breakout guy on waivers. However, if you don't have a couple of guys who could possibly be droppable in the first couple weeks, then I would say try to trade the depth to improve another position, and maybe end up with some people who could be droppable.įor example, package McFadden and Rudolph for a better TE perhaps (just throwing out a pure hypothetical). A small trade of someone I don't like or have no space for or regret drafting, sure, but a guy I have confidence in or are planning on starting, no thanks. In my personal opinion, I'm not big on trading in the pre-season, since you never know what will happen in the regular season.

Personally, I only like to keep two back ups at each position so I'm not screwed anywhere in particular and I have some wiggle room to work free agency if an injury pops up. Remember, if you were able to clean up at RB that means some teams most likely cleaned up at QB, WR or TE and might not need a RB to necessarily win. I've been in leagues where people are scared to trade though and they'd rather keep their team as is or work free agency to get what they need. The only problem with this method is you might need some position and no one is willing to trade so you're forced to drop a stud RB to get another position in free agency.
Chances are someone will need a running back at some point and if you have the most to offer you're going to get something for them. Then put it out to the league what you want and who you're willing to give up. What you're going to want to do is hold onto all of these RBs for the first two weeks at least. Personally, I don't like to overload on depth in one position, I'd rather space it out.īut there's nothing wrong with monopolizing on a certain position if you can get away with it. If you're in a league where people are open to trades, then there's no such thing as too much depth. The machine learning model I used is simple (sklearn linear regression, lasso CV) but if someone wanted to use the training data for a more complex model I'd be interested in seeing the results. That depends on what kid of league you're in. Average error of the projections was 53 points, median error of 49 points. The actual performance of rookies in PPR was an average of 74 points and a St Dev of 78 points. In 2021 my rookie projections had a PPR average of 78 points and a St Dev of 24 points. The training data is taken from current NFL players, their college stats, and their rookie season performance. I have a script to make rookie season fantasy projections based off of their college football statistics. If you might be down, reply or shoot me a message and we can set up a call to chat. Eventually, I wanted to figure out a way to monetize it somehow (without ruining the fun) so I'm hoping that there is a little bit of an end-game at some point, but for now I just want to get it up.Īnyways, I think it's a fun project and would love to work on it with someone more skilled than me. I've actually been surprised at how many people have been down to chat. Most of the marketing has been done just through twitter and reaching out to random fantasy analysts. I have a landing page up ( ) and we've actually gotten a few people on the waitlist. Was curious if anyone might be interested in working on it with me.

I'm trying to launch it full scale around the start of the season, but honestly could just use some help with some of the more complex backend elements (I'm definitely more confident on the front-end). I actually built one out for my personal league using ESPNs api and it has been really fun.
Hey! I had an idea for a little fantasy football project a while back that would let people create a fun little league website for their fantasy league.
